Kelley Cares Run Club

Starting Thursday, May 1 (and every Thursday thereafter), Kelley Cares Run Club will meet in front of George Washington Middle School at 7pm with the goal of preparing anyone and everyone for the race on June 7. The cost of the training is $30 and includes a reflector and a Pacers water bottle. to let him know you are interested. Make sure to email soon as space is limited!

We've created a program based on world renowned running expert Hal Higdon's 5K training for novices which is described below.

How much do you need to train to be able to run your first 5K race? Some individuals who possess a reasonably good level of fitness (because they bicycle or swim or participate in other sports) could probably go out and run 3 miles on very little training. They might be sore the week after the race, but they still could finish.

But if you've made the decision to run Kelley Cares, you might as well do it right. Below is a six-week training schedule to help get you to the finish line. It assumes that you have no major health problems, are in reasonably good shape, and have done at least some jogging or walking.

Notice that even though Kelley Cares Run Club's first meeting is May 1, your training actually begins on April 28. Yep, you've got homework! Ready to get started? Register now!
